Emmy Organizers Need To Invite CW Stars & Young-UP The Show Next Year!

Hey, Emmy awards producers! Jane Lynch was terrific, but you won’t ever get a younger audience until you invite more stars from ‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘90210.’

I may be giving you unasked for advice here, but I can tell you that our Hollywoodlife.com audience of millions of 18 to 35 year old women rapidly lost interest in Sunday’s Emmys broadcast after the red carpet and opening song and dance number.

Their initial hyper-enthusiasm for Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder‘s appearance was intense. They were thrilled to see them and sounded off in our Emmys live chat and then clicked vigorously on their photos.

But then, disappointment set in when only a few of the Glee cast members appeared on the red carpet and even fewer on stage during the show and it became apparent that none of their other huge TV favorites would be attending.

Yes, I’m sure many tune in to Modern Family, 30 Rock, SNL and Mad Men too.

But they are deeply involved with shows like Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, One Tree Hill and reality shows ranging from The Voice, to American Idol, to The Bachelorette to Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Unfortunately, these younger scripted and reality shows receive few Emmy nominations, despite their enormous popularity with young female audiences.

Nevertheless, I’d strongly suggest you get more of these young, hot stars on the red carpet and involved in the show as presenters or as part of sketches. I guarantee your ratings will soar!

You need to mix it up, anyway. This year — it felt like we were getting constant repeats on the podium. Now, you can’t help that if you have the same winners in umpteen categories — but you can vary your presenters.

Listen, I love Amy Poehler, Andy Sandberg, Sofia Vergara, Ashton Kutcher, Jim Parsons, Julianna Margulies and John Hamm BUT we saw them A LOT!

Young women would have stayed glued to their seats if they could have eyeballed Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, AnnaLynne McCord, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Sophia Bush, just to name a few.

It wouldn’t have hurt either if the Emmys organizers could have somehow have found a way to invite Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez to make an appearance — after all Selena was a TV star and Justin Bieber made a much talked-about appearance on CSI this year.

Don’t laugh, Emmys producers. The name of the game is ratings and don’t networks lust over the young female demographic?

Well, to get to them you need to invite stars they’re passionate about to the Emmys next year! Then, they’ll keep watching.
