Taylor admits that he had to forget being a werewolf in ‘Breaking Dawn,’ so he could focus on his new role as a troubled teen in ‘Abduction.’
Taylor Lautner will forever be recognized as Jacob Black, Bella Swan’s best friend/secret lover/werewolf bodyguard in the Twilight Saga. But in between shooting the new Breaking Dawn films, Taylor admits he had to find the courage to let go of Jacob and put all his energy into playing rebel Nathan in his new movie Abduction.
“I filmed Abduction right before Breaking Dawn, so I was more familiar with it. You know I had to throw Jacob aside because both characters are so different. I really had to dive into Nathan’s shoes!” Taylor told HollywoodLife.com at the premiere of Abduction at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in LA on Sept. 15.
“He is very different from Jacob,” he added. “It is totally different then anything that I have played before, he is a rebel that matures a lot throughout the movie and it definitely changed me a lot as an actor.”
Taylor, who is still emotional about the ending of Twilight, says he’s ready to expand his career and take new risks he wasn’t able to do while playing Jacob Black for so many years.
“It is weird, it really is, to think that we are not going to go back and film is a weird feeling,” Taylor said of Twilight. “But I think it will be less difficult in time.”
“There are a few things floating around right now that I am very excited about, its a little too early to tell, but I can definitely say that I will be challenging myself into something new!”
Aww, we’re so happy for him! But, of course, we’ll miss Jacob and Twilight almost as much as he will. At least we still have Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2 to look forward to!
