Parents Could Be Banned From Finding Out The Sex Of Their Unborn Babies!

Lawmakers are worried that too many parents-to-be are aborting fetuses based on sex — and they’re trying to take control!

If the law is passed, doctors would be prohibited from sharing the sex of unborn babies. It could become law in Europe as soon as next month and parent groups are understandably outraged. What do you think about this?

The whole issue stems from a worrying trend in former Soviet states of aborting female fetuses. High birth rates of boys in those countries indicates increasing numbers of parents are discovering the sex of their unborn babies and terminating the pregnancy if they’re expecting a girl!

It’s a terrifying practice — but is a universal ban the answer?

Justin Roberts from online parents network Mumsnet, says ‘no.”

She tells the Sunday Telegraph, “I can understand that there may be problems in some parts of the world but it seems ridiculous to apply the thinking to countries where this has not been shown to be a problem. I think pregnant women would feel pretty angry and disappointed to be told they can’t be told the gender of their unborn child.”

And Dr. Gillian Lockwood, a former vice-chair of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ ethics committee, agrees, explaining that most couples learn their unborn child’s sex at around 20 weeks, which, unless for medical reasons, is too long of a gestational stage for an abortion to be permitted.

Honestly, abortion should be outlawed. These idiot women say “It’s my body. I can do what I want” What about your children’s bodies? Do they not matter? It’s murder. That simple. Abortion has been proven to increase your chance of breast cancer too. So you aren’t helping your body, you’re destroying it. I’m 14 and I’m a lot smarter than some of you seem to be.

No one see to realize that just because you outlaw abortions doesn’t mean they wont happen! they will just be done in alley ways and in ways that are way more dangerous to the woman. that is why abortions being legalized is pro woman. it is done in a clean safe enviornment. making something illegal does not make it go away!! as for the gender thing i can see where they are coming from but frankly i would be ticked if i couldnt know the gender of my baby!! knowing the gender helps buy all the needs, pick out the name without feeling pressured as heck by doctors think about medical needs the baby might have like discussing circumcision with your partner and not rushed. now yes of course you can do most of this anyway but it doesnt seem as real till you know the gender and are making official desicions till then its just what ifs. and it is harder to find gender neutral stuff then people give it credit for or at least it is in america.

I agree with everyone who is saying that abortion should be outlawed instead. I think abortion is discusting and should be illegal, why don’t people just pick adoption instead? Or is this world to selfish for that too. When I have a kid, I would not mind if I did not know the gender it would just be another suprize in life

Yes because there is such a high demand for crack addicted babies. Or babies with fetal alcohol syndrome. Instead of allowing the woman her right to an abortion, make her have the kid so the kid can suffer in foster care!!!! All these people that want to outlaw abortion… how many babies have YOU adopted?

I agree with Mandy. You are obviously one of those religious people eho say you will go to hell. But it puts the baby through hell. Being adopted and saying who is my mother! My father! Confused and mixed up. Its up to the parent NOT the law!

this is pointless it wasn’t till 30 years ago you could even find out the sex before birth because of Ultrasound unless you were high risk and given an amniosantisis. girls are considered inferior to boys in some countries and abortion is never the answer

How about instead of banning finding out the sex of a baby because of the risk of gender discriminating abortions, we just ban abortions! Common sense just isn’t common anymore! C’mon people!

I am from Canada, and in one of our provinces (British Columbia) doctors use their own discretion to tell the parents the babies sex. If they feel that the baby would be at risk of being aborted, they do not tell. Also, in Canada their is no legal restriction on abortion. Women can abort up until the moment of birth, for no medical reason at all.

The ironic part of this is that the people who will most adamently oppose this law are the same people that are pro-choice.

Abortion is disgusting for any reason and very anti-woman- (half if not more of those babies are female- what about thier rights? )
Abortion is the issue- not gender idetification.

abortion is the farthest thing from anti-woman; it gives women the right to choose what happens to their own bodies.

it should not be used frivolously or as a replacement for birth control, but abortion is definitely a necessary option in a society that values a person’s right to personal liberties.
