Oh No! It Looks Like Scary Skinny Models Are Back! But Are They Really Doing Any Justice To These Runway Outfits?

Things have been looking so bright in the celebrity world with curvy girls like Kim K and Beyonce dominating as style role models, but it seems like the scary skinny model look just won’t die on the fashion runways!

So far New York Fashion Week is off to a great start with fabulous color collections from BCBGPeter Som and more, but I hate to say it but all this fabulous fashion is being overshadowed by the painfully thin models! With their knobby knees, pin thin legs, and protruding clavicle bones, these girls look more like starvation victims than runway models!

With the recent shift in popularity in Hollywood from  super skinny stars to a more curvaceous and toned bodies you would have thought that American designers would have taken note, but apparently not! Some of the models look so emaciated I can’t even believe they are even able to walk at all. Being forced to wonder about the state of these girls health is definitely a big distraction from the actual clothing on the runways. I have been more than impressed with these new collections for spring 2012 but I have to say they would look so much better on girls like Blake Lively, who is also beautiful, tall, but healthy!

IMG, the modeling agency hosting Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week had “no comment” when we called them a response about the sub zero -size models.

What do YOU think HollywoodLifers — do scary skinny models help or hurt  the fabulous fashion they sport?

Luisel Ramos died in 2006 at a Fashion Week show in Uruguay. She was 5’9 and weighed only 97 lbs. Also in 2006 Ana Carolina Reston, another model, died. She was 5’7, and at the time of her death from kidney failure due to Anorexia, she weighed 88 lbs. It is time to stop the fashion industry’s obsession with painfully thin, and ill models just to sell clothing! They have been quoted more than one time as calling their models “hangers” for their clothes. Well, if they want “hangers”, let them push the clothes on true hangers down the runway on a rack! Women are not “hangers”. Why not have beautiful athletic figures go down the runway? Models who like Gabby Reese, who did some modeling, but was limited by her athletic frame whic was not a size zero (not many people are that size naturally anyway!). She had/has a georgeous body though, and is what we should be showing young women as the picture of health and beauty in fashion.

its up to the parents to teach their children that these models suffer from a disease and to reinforce what a healthy body looks like rather than let the media educate their children.
