The season premiere is just eight days away, so let’s ease our anxiety with pics from the second episode, ‘The Hybrid!’

Looks like everyone in Mystic Falls is pairing up for the upcoming third season of The Vampire Diaries: Not only is Elena (Nina Dobrev) inching ever-closer to Damon (Ian Somerhalder, not pictured) but Elena’s sort-of-brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is also making a new best friend in Matt (Zach Roerig)! Now that we’ve seen the pictures, let the wild theories begin!

Kayla Ewell recently told me that Matt and Vicki would be “exploring their brother-sister relationship” in season three, so it’s no surprise that Mystic Falls’ resident ghost whisperer — and Vicki’s ex — would start buddying up to her brother.

But here’s what I’m wondering, based on the shocked look on Matt’s face: Can he see ghosts too? We know ghosts on The Vampire Diaries are extremely powerful, so maybe they have the ability to reveal themselves to whomever they please.

And as for Elena and Damon… I think we all know where that’s headed. (See their final scene of last season’s finale. Then hit pause.)
