Kate Middleton sure is eager to settle into her new apartment at Kensington Palace and put her own mark on its traditionally staid decor!
The Duchess visited Peter Jones, a London housewares store, on Tuesday to pick up some home essentials—and she even carried her own mags, despite being trailed by a security officer.
Kate was visiting London from her home in Wales where she and husband Prince William are living, while he trains with the Royal Air Force.
Kate arrived via chauffeured car, but strolled around the shop by herself, without the assistance of any of her minders. According to Us Weekly, she stocked up on pillows, bed linen, cutlery and other kitchen items. She was also spotted perusing the store’s carpet selection.
“She looked like any other newlywed [outfitting] her new home,” an eyewitness told Us.
It’s not the first time Kate has ventured out in search of chic home furnishings. In July, Kate purchased $1458 worth of air fresheners and candles for their new London home!
“Kate is used to a more modern, relaxed environment,” a source previously told Daily Mail. “She felt [Kensington] had an overriding musty, damp smell, and ordered a six-month supply of her favorite products to override this. She’s also thrown pillows around to make it look more minimalist-chic and less fuddy-duddy. William was happy to go with the flow.”
