Russell Armstrong's Funeral: Friends & Family Are Distraught Over His Portrayal On 'Real Housewives.'

Guests were distraught that Russell will be featured on the new season, which airs tonight — his sister speaks out.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Russell Armstrong‘s suicide devastated his family, and at a private ceremony held in his hometown, attendees spoke out about their grief and his full life.

HollywoodLife.com spoke EXCLUSIVELY to Russell’s sister Laurie Kelsoe at the funeral, held Sept. 2 at DeBerry Funeral Chapel in Russell’s hometown of Denton, Texas.

“Close to two hundred of Russell’s family and friends came from all over to celebrate his life,” she said. “I was very touched by all of the people that flew in from all over. There were lots of my brother’s friends there from his high school. Russell’s ex-wife Barbara Fredrickson was there with her son Aiden. Although they were divorced, my brother and Barbara were still really close. His other son Griffin, from his former fiancée Milette Fields, was also there. The services and reception lasted for about three hours.”

Laurie said the entire family was devastated about the day.

“My mom and dad were both, and still are, very distraught,” she said. “After the services, everybody talked about how Russell’s image was so distorted on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But Taylor [Armstrong, Russell's wife and Real Housewives costar] was not there, which was no surprise.”

When asked if she was planning on watching the season premiere, Laurie said she was hurt it was airing but was going to tune in for one element.

“I am going to watch the special they supposedly taped about my brother,” she said. “But that’s all I am watching. I just want to see how my brother is portrayed in the special.”

What do you think, HollywoodLifers — is Bravo using poor judgement by airing Real Housewives so soon after Russell’s suicide?

Taylor needs to be taken off the show. She is way TOO MUCH DRAMA. Causes the problems herself. She should have continued to be a wallflower.

I feel so bad for his family and children, not her.If she had not demanded the kind of life the other women had on the show he may still be here. For her to write a book about the so-called abuse is disgusting. He is not here to defend himself and she can say whatever she wants. She needs help because I think she has mental issues. She set him up to be dis-liked by her friends. The way they treated him at that white party was heartbreaking to watch.I don’t believe he ever hit her,for whatever reason he seemed to love her so much. They should have stayed in Vegas that night but no she had to come back for that party. Please, she is why they did not like him but she took him there?

I think that Taylor needs a whole lot of help. I don’t think that she should be on the Housewives. She needs to get help with, definitely alcohol abuse and maybe even drug abuse. I am a sober alocoholic of 22 years and I see alot of myself and actions in Taylor. I truly don’t think Russell ever abused her~

Comment @ Dana: Please learn how to spell and use words in the proper text. It will help state your argument more strongly. Otherwise, you sound like an idiot.

I’m sorry but I’m so over this whole story. Also HL, the pop up ads/commercials on your site are too much. Can’t even come here anymore.

suicide is self-inflected stop trying to blame Bravo and his “estranged” wife for what was his own personal choice

Russell made a choice and he signed a contract so it is not in bad taste to air the episodes….although I am sorry for his family’s lost why didn’t anyone in his family try to help him and talk to him about all of the things that was going on in his life and try to help… and why blame Taylor?? Taylor did not kill him he did that his self no one person can force you to kill yourself that is that persons choice

I so agree with you.I don’t believe that he knew she was telling people that he was physical with her. When they were with the therapist everything came up but that. She just reaks liar.
