Is asking for your hand a thing of the past or should your guy still be adhering to this time-honored tradition?
Kris Humphries decided he wanted to say ‘I do’ to Kim Kardashian while watching her mother and stepfather renew their vows in Bora Bora after 20 years of marriage. After making his decision, the NBA player asked her stepdad, Bruce Jenner, for his approval. Is this still the polite thing to do when proposing?
On the Sept. 4 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, 26-year-old Kris returns home from the family trip and asks Bruce to go golfing. While the two are having a boys day, he asks the patriarch if he can marry Kim.
While the episode cuts to black without revealing Bruce’s answer, we all know how Kim and Kris’ love story turned out: they were married just last month. Did Kris do the right thing, and was it necessary?
While many weddings are non-traditional nowadays, certain things remain the same: and this is one of them. It’s considered to be respectful if your guy asks your dad first. Clearly, Kris wanted to do things the right way. Not only did he make Kim, 30, happy with his proposal, but Bruce also felt like he had control of the situation, and was giving his stepdaughter away to a good guy.
It’s not a deal-breaker if your man doesn’t ask your father for your hand, but if he wants to have a strong relationship with your family, it’s really only the polite thing to do.

Why should he? She’s already been married, lived and slept around, made a sex tape. Seems like she is pretty much a woman of her own. Trash.
