The actor and his wife Gina are celebrating the birth of a baby boy and girl born to a surrogate on July 5.

Because they were born prematurely, William Petersen and Gina Cirone‘s newborn twins are still in the hospital — but the couple are preparing to take them home for the first time!

“The babies are doing great and are improving every day and we can’t wait for them to come home,” William, 58, tells People magazine.

The actor, who quit CSI in 2009 after nine years, has a daughter, Maite, 36, from a previous relationship — and two grandsons.

Congratulations William and Gina. We can’t wait to find out the twins’ names!
