Parents of 16-year-old model Hailey are suing the brand for selling tees with a ‘salacious’ picture of the then 15-year-old.
Hailey Clauson is a successful, 16-year-old model who has appeared in editorials for Vogue Russia, Vogue China and T Style, along with campaigns for Gucci, Zara, Jill Stuart, DSquared — and while she’s used to posing in all sorts of positions, her parents are suing Urban Outfitters for selling tees and other merchandise with the image of the teen that were taken back in April when Hailey was 15-years-old, claiming they weren’t notified that the sexually suggestive image would be used.
Along with the store, they’re also suring the photographer, Jason Lee Perry, seeking damages that exceed $28 million.
According to the lawsuit:
“She is posed in a blatantly salacious manner with her legs spread, without a bra, revealing portions of her breasts.
The image of Teen in a spread eagle position making her crotch area the focal point of the image may portray a child in a sexually suggestive manner and may be in violation of one or more federal and/or state laws.”
What do you think? Are the pictures out of line or are the parents overreacting?
