Jen shares that by hitting a Bikram yoga class twice a week and eating right helped her to get her body back after giving birth to daughter Mae!
Getting rid of those extra pounds after a mother gives birth is never an easy task. Former Bachelorette star Jen Schefft knows from experience that it requires lots of exercise and maintaining a strict diet. After welcoming beautiful baby girl Mae on Nov. 14, Jen started the hard track of shedding the baby weight. And so far, Jen’s lost an amazing 40 pounds and is back down to a size 4! With five more pounds to go, Jen reveals how she got her bod back!
Bikram yoga is Jen’s big secret. “My husband [Joe Waterman] did it first and he was like, ‘Oh, my God. It’s the best,'” Jen tells Us magazine. “I did it, I tried to leave in the middle of the class! I mean, you walk in, and it’s so hot and you can’t believe anyone would subject themselves to this.”
But Jen stuck it out. “He encouraged me to go back, and I hung in there,” she says. “I dropped 25 pounds right away. Those last 15 took a while.”
Thankfully Jen’s loving husband helps out so that Jen has time to exercise. “My husband is home by 4 p.m. every day, so I’m able to work out when he watches the baby, or I go on the weekends,” Jen explains. “I’m lucky. I’m doing the stay-at-home-mom thing for now.”
Jen also watches her diet. “I try to eat in moderation and don’t deny myself anything,” she admits. “And I did Weight Watchers a long time ago, so I always count my points.”
“In the morning I’ll have coffee and either egg whites or toast,” Jen adds. “Then for lunch I eat a salad. I try to eat a normal dinner, like lean steak. Or I’ll have pasta. My weekends are definitely my splurge days.”
But, “I still have about five [pounds] to go,” Jen confesses. “I want my abs back.”
