Is Kristen Stewart safe? Robert Pattinson must be a nervous wreck! HollywoodLife.com investigates the situation, and here’s our report:
Kristen landed in London without her Twilight beau this week, just days after terrifying rioting, looting and street violence engulfed parts of the city.
Kristen, who’s in London to film Snow White, often stays at The Dorchester, a five-star luxury hotel located on tony Park Lane, which is a few miles away from the epicenter of the rioting and looting—which kicked off after police killed a 29-year-old man in north London Thursday.
But, a London police spokesperson tells HollywoodLife.com that the location of the rioting has been unpredictable, and that no no area of the city is immune from possible unrest—including The Dorchester. “The actually area where the Dorchester Hotel is located is okay, however these situations are fluid and changing constantly,” says the spokesperson. “Obviously if you put yourself into the middle of the riots it’s dangerous but the general areas in Central London where these hotels are haven’t been affected.”
A rep for The Dorchester tells HollywoodLife.com that the property is prepared, thanks to additional police: “There are police vans on the streets outside the hotel, there’s a lot more security near the hotel, but the riots haven’t happened near here yet. But you never know where the next riot will take place.”
Over at nearby hotel, Claridge’s, in the city’s Mayfair neighborhood, a spokesperson didn’t have as much faith in the police. “There is a sense of frustration in London right now that the police aren’t handling the riots well. The riots are mainly happening in the poor areas of London, there is a much stronger police presence in the city today.”
In a nod to the severity of the unrest, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced Tuesday that 16,000 officers would be on the streets of London, compared with the previous 6,000. And on its Web site, the U.S. Embassy in London is urging to U.S. citizens, “If you find yourself near any civil unrest, leave.”
And Rob doesn’t just have Kristen to worry about: his parents live in the London suburb of Barnes, which has implemented a plan should the violence extend to their area.
But Kristen may not need men in uniform to shield her from the violence: Now that Robert is done with the Teen Choice Awards, it seems he’s able to squeeze in a quick trip to his native land, so he’ll be able to protect her virtue!
