Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly Lashes Out At Radio Host Who Criticized Her Maternity Leave!

After radio host Mike Gallagher judged her for taking three months maternity leave following the birth of her daughter, anchor Megyn Kelly returned to work on Monday and gave him a taste of his own medicine!

The issue of maternity leave has been long-going — how much time should a new mom get to bond with and care for her baby? Well, radio host Mike Gallagher had some strong opinions on the topic back in May when he criticized Fox News anchor and mother of two, Megyn Kelly, 40, for taking three months off of work, calling her ‘vacation’ a ‘racket.’ What’s your take on the issue, HollyMoms?

“Megyn’s still on maternity leave … what a racket that is,” Gallagher announced in May, one month after Kelly gave birth to daughter Yardley Evans. “I mean, men don’t get to bond… How much time does she get off?” Upon being told it was three months, he said, “that’s unbelievable.”

Then on Monday, August 8, Kelly was ready to give him a piece of her motherly mind! “Are you not taking those remarks back? Is maternity leave, according to you, a racket?” Kelly asked him.

Gallagher could muster up the courage to respond by asking if men are given the same leave. “Guess what honey they do … if men would like to take three months off to go take care of their newborn baby they can.”

“What is it about getting pregnant and carrying a baby nine months,” the smiling second-time mom explained, “that you don’t think deserves a few months off, so bonding and recovery can take place? Hm?”

How did Gallagher respond to that? “I was drinking that day,” he quipped.

How do you feel about this issue, HollyMoms?

Hello America?!

Do you have any idea what other women around the world get when they have a child?

Do you realize how barbaric your system is?

It’s laughable.

Yes, in Canada we get a year. PAID. Our employers usually top us up meaning we get our regular pay WHILE staying home and raising and bOnding with our babies. FOR A YEAR!!!!

As an outsider looking at the USA, it looks like this: you’re fanatical about abortion. Part lines are drawn over the issue. It’s such a huge deal to you AND YET you have no health care! You offer a joke of a maternity leave and no money!! Do you only care about fetuses? What about when the baby is here? It is insane.

I don’t know why such a powerful ( well, once powerful) nation allows such an assult on women and families.

you Americans are crazy. The Canadian gov’t give you a year of maternity PAID for a year. Taking any less that 6 months is just insane.

In Canada, maternity leave is one full year and you get paid leave…I can’t imagine only having the standard 6 weeks that Americans get, that’s just not enough time with your newborn…

I couldn’t either. Ontario, Canada is actually separated like this:

Maternity Leave is 17 weeks. Natural Birth mother is the only one that can take that.

Parental Leave is 35 or 37 weeks. father/partner, adoptive parents, birth mother can take that.

90 days’ maternity leave is just fine. The question is weather it’s “paid” leave and, if so, do new fathers get the same 90 days? Kelly says, as to the question of taking time off, “Guess what honey they do … if men would like to take three months off to go take care of their newborn baby they can.” But she doesn’t say whether either hers or the father’s leave is paid by FOX or for how many of those days.

If she gets paid for 90 days and the father doesn’t, then it would appear inequitable. But as we know, there’s plenty of gender inequality in the workplace – usually in favor of men. Also, one could argue that mothers require longer leave than fathers – simple because of the physiological effect on, and role of, the mother. If daddy pushed a bowling ball out of his a$$ and had to breastfeed, give him 90 days paid.

Galligher should butt out 13 weeks to take care of a newborn is over double what most working moms get
