Demi Lovato posed for a gorgeous shoot in Elle’s September issue, and she opened up even more about her public ‘meltdown’ and Joe Jonas’ involvement
Demi Lovato looks absolutely stunning — as always — in her dramatic and fashionable photo shoot for Elle‘s September issue. In her usual candor, Demi spoke to the reporter about the days leading up to when she checked into a treatment facility, and explained the moment she realized she had spiraled out of control.
“When you punch someone on a plane, enough is enough,” Demi confessed, speaking of the incident when she punched her backup dancer Alex Welch on a flight to Peru while touring with the Jonas brothers. ”I just felt like she betrayed me. That’s the bottom line.” She immediately knew she had done something wrong. “Right after, I texted my mom and just said ‘I’m sorry’.”
In the interview, Demi admits that her heartbreak over Joe, who broke up with her and swiftly started dating Ashley Greene while still touring with Demi, did affect her breakdown, but was hardly the cause of it. “I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life,” explained Demi. The article also reports that Demi and Joe have had no contact in the past months.
While Joe certainly hurt Demi, and may even feel deeply sorry about it, even he says he thinks that what Demi has gone through is made up of much more than how he treated her.
We agree, we wouldn’t want to belittle Demi’s struggles and pin it all on boy trouble. But still, it must be difficult to speak about everything constantly and relive the pain. We’re glad Demi is so strong and willing to use her experiences to help others!

Most fans don’t have issues with Joe and the breaking up. It was bringing his new GF on tour with him in front of the old GF that we found very distasteful. You just don’t do that.
Interesting that she and Joe have no spoken since.
We’ll never know exactly what happened with Shorty. Has to be something deeper. Best left in the past now.
