Plus, Demi reveals how she’s using her experience to help others: ‘[God] put me through these issues for a reason.’

Entering rehab for cutting issues, an eating disorder and Bipolar disorder was the best decision Demi Lovato could have ever made for herself, and she’s the first to admit the experience changed her for the better. “The biggest change is that I’m not stressed out all the time,” she revealed during a July 27 interview with radio station Mix 94.1. “I’m not tired and cranky. To be honest, I’m a much more pleasant person to work with.”

Here’s more of the interview with Demi:

On working with Timbaland: “We’re working on songs for both his album and mine. … I’m really excited, everything’s turning out really good. … He’s incredible.”

On her relationship with her fans: “My fans are coming to me and saying things like ‘Thanks to you, I’m getting help for my eating disorder, because you’ve shown that it’s possible.’ And the same with cutting. … It’s just incredible. They’re incredible.”

On deciding to open up about rehab: “There were rumors out there that I was in [rehab] for drugs and alcohol. I wanted to set the record straight. I didn’t want people thinking I was in there for other reasons than I really was. When you hear the word ‘rehab’ you think drugs and alcohol. God gave me a voice for a reason, and he put me through these issues for a reason. When you combine the two, you can use it to help people.”

On tuning out gossip: “It’s hard to tune it out when you’re a fan of Perez Hilton.”
