The couple appear in the first post-‘Bachelorette’ interview to discuss their wedding plans — and J.P. reveals he wasn’t always driven by love!
It was no surprise that Ashley Hebert chose J.P. Rosenbaum to propose to her on the season finale of The Bachelorette, and after appearing on Good Morning America, it’s no doubt these two are truly in love!
Despite breaking the heart of Ben Flajnik, Ashley could not be happier with J.P. being engaged under the radar for the past several weeks, the couple are relieved to be able to finally show their love to the world. “It was kind of fun at first to keep the secret,” Ashley states, “but then towards the end we were ready to get on living.”
And they’re certainly ready to be united. “We have a very solid relationship. We complement each other very well. He’s been my rock and I think everything that happened on the season really brought us closer.” But she admits that in the beginning, she didn’t always have such strong feelings about him. “I think I would say something different about him during the proposal than I would say now.”
J.P. also concedes that he was not initially inspired by love — rather driven by competition. “[It was] completely about ego, I just wanted to beat all the other guys,” he declares. “But at some point that all changes. You just fall for the girl. It’s not about beating him, but, ‘wow I want to be with her.'”
With the finale of this season’s The Bachelorette, fans will have to wait to see these two finally together. “She’s going to move to New York and finish up school, [we’ll] find a place, get a job, and a wedding maybe end of next year, early fall.” We hope to be on the guest list!
