Her family is saying had she not quit drinking so suddenly, she might still be alive!

Amy Winehouse‘s parents are saying their daughter’s death was caused by a dependence on drinking — and the extreme withdrawal that took place once she stopped.

Amy, who was 27, apparently told her parents Mitch and Janis she had quit drinking cold turkey three weeks before her July 23 death, The Sun reports.

“Mitch said the shock of giving up, and everything she had been through over a bad few years was just too much for her to take,” a source close to her father says. “Abstinence gave her body such a fright they thought it was eventually the cause of her death.”

What do you think, HollywoodLifers — Do you think this is the real reason Amy died?
