The epic fantasy series’ Comic-Con panel reveals even more surprises for season two! (Is it 2012 yet?)
Our country may be in the middle of a hellish heat wave, but don’t forget: Winter is coming! I’m, of course, referring to the dreaded years-long Winter on HBO’s Game of Thrones, which held its panel July 21 at San Diego Comic-Con. The show’s stars, as well as the book series’ author George R.R. Martin, were on hand to dish spoilers about season two — and HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine was there to soak up every word.
For starters, those adorable little dragon babies we met at the tail end of season one won’t stay babies for long. “Those dragons … start to grow up,” revealed series creator David Benioff, giving hope to all those fans (myself included) hoping to see some gratuitous aerial flame-throwing.
And along with finally seeing the “bad stuff lurking north of the wall,” season two will also introduce a slew of new characters from the books, including Carice van Houten as the mysterious “Red Priestess.”
But for those of you who haven’t been keeping up with the books, don’t be surprised to see another “Ned Stark” moment. George said he wants his readers “to be afraid to turn the page, not knowing who’s going to live and die.” And as much as I’d be devastated to say goodbye to any of the show’s current characters, you’ve go to admit, it makes for good drama.
