Sources say that Emily talked to the producers about becoming ‘The Bachelorette’ — and she ‘loves the idea of guys being there for her!’

After Emily Maynard and Bachelor Brad Womack broke up, reports said that Emily was close to locking in a deal to be ABC’s next Bachelorette. But then host Chris Harrison tried to mollify the rumors saying that nothing has been set yet. Most recently, sources are saying that Emily broke it off with Brad so that she could get her own shot at being the star without him by her side!

“Some are convinced she broke up with Brad just so she could be the next Bachelorette,” an insider tells OK! magazine.

As soon as her relationship with Brad started taking a turn for the worst, Emily discussed the idea of returning with the producers. “Right after she got engaged, things started to go badly with Brad, so she kept talking to producers and the show about ending things, and her future,” says a source close to production. “The question if she’d be The Bachelorette kept popping up, so she started thinking about it.”

And the idea of having men chase her is quite appealing to Emily. “She loves the idea of guys being there for her,” shares the source. “It’s a different dynamic — she was really excited about it.”

But Ashley has to get over Brad first.”Brad tried to make it work, Emily tried to make it work, but it was doomed,” explains a friend.

“As much as she cared for Brad, this new opportunity was more important to her,” adds the insider.
