Demi Lovato is back!
The Disney star—who dropped out of the Jonas Brothers tour last November and checked into a treatment center to treat her eating disorder and cutting—made her first red carpet appearance in over a year at an event in Hollywood Tuesday night, and she exclusively told HollywoodLife.com she’s thrilled to be back on the scene!
“I feel really good,” Demi, who turns 19 on August 20, gushed in an exclusive video interview with HollywoodLife.com at the launch party for HTC Social Status. “This is my first red carpet event in over a year, so it’s kind of nerve-wrecking a little bit. But I’m more relaxed this time around and I’m not as stressed and [I'm not] freaking out, like ‘How do I look?’ I’m like what you see is what you get! So I’m having fun.”
Demi said she’s glad that her own personal demons have helped other young women in similar situations. “I have all these Tweets that are just like, ‘Because you said your story I got help’ or ‘I quit cutting’ or ‘I got help for my eating disorder.’”
So what’s Demi been up to lately? “I’ve been focusing on myself and my music,” she said. “At the end of the day, I’m in this business because I love to make music and I love to act.”
As for her upcoming album, she said “you will definitely hear stuff about more personal issues, but also love, fun dance songs, just everything. Right now I’m taking my music very seriously and I’m focusing on that.”
And, p.s., HollywoodLife.com asked if she’s single, and she said “yes,” so start lining up, boys!
