The parents of six-year-old Max Shacknai, who died in a hospital Sunday from injuries sustained after falling down a flight of stairs July 11 in his father’s Coronado, Calif., mansion—are making sure their son didn’t die in vain.
Max‘s pharmaceutical mogul dad Jonah and his mom Dina, who are divorced from each other, have donated their son’s organs to three different children, reports RadarOnline.
“Jonah and Dina didn’t want another family to go through the horrible loss they are dealing with, so they decided to donate Max’s organs,” a source tells RadarOnline. “They are absolutely devastated by Max’s death. There are simply no words.”
As for donating Max’s organs to three different people, the source says “Jonah and Dinah were given some solace knowing that three families were able to avoid the horror they are going through.”
In a bizarre coincidence, just two days after Max tumbled down the stairs, Jonah’s girlfriend Rebecca Zahau, was found dead, hanging by a rope, in the same house. Police are still investigating both deaths.
Two days before Zahau’s body was found, 6-year-old Max Shacknai fell down the stairs at the mansion, which is owned by his father, pharmaceutical mogul Jonah Schaknai. The boy died of his injuries on Sunday.
