In its last season on-air, Disney Channel’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ was nominated for two 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards and HollywoodLife.com got the exclusive reaction from cast members Gregg Sulkin and Maria Canals Barrera!
After four successful seasons, Wizards of Waverly Place is all wrapped and done. However, it still could go out with even more of a bang! The popular Disney Channel show was nominated for two 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards — Outstanding Children’s Program and Outstanding Cinematography for a Multi-camera Series — and HollywoodLife.com spoke exclusively with co-stars Gregg Sulkin and Maria Canals Barrera to get their first reactions to the exciting news!
“It’s a team effort and i’m just proud to be part of the team,” Gregg — who recently landed the lead in the film White Frog — told us. “To be nominated for another Emmy is amazing. We owe it to the fans for their on-going support.”
Maria, who played Selena Gomez and David Henrie‘s mom on the show, agreed, adding, “Wizards has been one of the biggest blessings of my life, where I’ve gotten to work with some of the most amazing people… and to be nominated again is incredibly exciting!”
WOWP has won Emmys for “Outstanding Children’s Program” the last two years, but — as usual — it’s up against some pretty stiff competition, including Degrassi, iCarly and Victorious.
Who do YOU think deserves the Emmy this year? Should WOWP definitely get it out of principle, since it’s the show’s last year? Sound off below!
