The one-year-olds’ mom desperately tried to revive them after finding them unconscious in her backyard pool in Visalia, California on Friday — but it was too late.
Firefighters called to the scene think the twins wandered off through a sliding door before finding their way to the swimming pool and tumbling in. Such a tragic story. Is your pool baby-proofed?“It’s a very unfortunate, tragic accident that hopefully no family will ever have to go through,” Visalia fire chief Danny Wristen told ABC 30.
“But it does happen and it’s just a great reminder for people to protect their pool from their kids and keep an eye on their kids.”
Such valuable advice.
It’s unknown if the pool met city safety requirements — but the unnamed mom is NOT facing police charges.
Should the parents be prosecuted?
These tragedies happen TOO OFTEN, particularly in the hot summer months.
Here’s a few great safety tips:
- Build a fence around your pool
- Keep the gate shut
- Always supervise children when they’re around the pool.
- Teach your kids to swim as soon as they’re old enough
- Learn how to resuscitate
