Aren’t you so happy that Selena Gomez showed up like any non-celeb girlfriend would to support boyfriend Justin Bieber at last night’s ESPY Awards in LA, last night, July 13!
It’s so nice to see that Justin, 17, and Selena, 18, are doing what comes naturally — and that means spending as much time together as possible! And they’re doing it, even if that means that they’re going public with their love now at MANY major events.
How refreshing for a celebrity couple to defy the standard publicist advice to NOT be photographed or even be seen together for God knows what reason. I myself have never understood the publicist dictates for keeping real celebrity romances under cover; especially when celebs have been together forever and are even married.
Think Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner and Reese Witherspoon. They never take their mates to red carpet appearances. Hell — when is the last time Gwyneth has EVER been photographed with her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin? Are they EVEN together?
Here’s the thing — when you’re truly in love in real life , you WANT to spend every single living moment together. You can’t bear to be apart. That’s what’s natural. So Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are doing what is normal for anyone in love and I applaud that.
Why should you, whether you’re a celebrity or not, NOT hang out together just because your fans will see you?
The so-called reason for hiding your mate is that publicity will supposedly put pressure on your relationship.
But here’s the thing, you “hide-your-mate “stars. Isn’t it more hurtful to your relationship to NOT spend time with the one you love? You have less time together and fewer shared experiences. Yet time shared together is very important for staying close with your mate. Justin and Selena are smart to make the most of their time together. Both of them work so hard and travel so much, they NEED to cherish their moments together, even if it’s at award shows.It’s like going to the prom together. Why would you EVER miss that!
I think it’s so sweet that Selena came as Justin’s “date” to the ESPYs and that Justin Bieber showed up unexpectedly at the MTV Awards on June 5 and MuchMusic Awards on June 19, because Selena was already scheduled to be there.
That’s what “in love” people do. They show up to be with each other.
So thanks Selena and Justin for NOT caring what any of your handlers might advise you to do and instead doing what’s right for YOUR relationship.
