‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy’s devastating announcement yesterday that several main characters would be leaving at the end of the third season shocked fans–but it especially surprised Chris and Cory who didn’t know about it ahead of time! Oh no!
Can you imagine learning about a life-altering career decision through a social network like Twitter? Chris Colfer claims that’s exactly what happened to him yesterday, when he read on Twitter that he’d no longer be on Glee after next season, but Ryan Murphy said he spoke to Chris about the decision! Was he lying?
People.com reports that the young star was not 100% sure that the upcoming third season of Glee would be his last until yesterday, that is! He wasn’t completely in the dark though as he admits that “I knew something like that was coming up eventually. I mean, we can’t be there forever.”
Still, how rude for the creator to not discuss such a big decision with his star! While there’s been no word from co-stars Cory Monteith or Lea Michele, who also will be leaving at the end of this season, we have a sneaking suspicion that Lea may not be so worried, Ryan seems to have hinted at a spin-off series for the Broadway star. “We always knew we’d graduate in real time. It’s all part of the plan and it’s all good,” the actress tweeted yesterday. “It’s going to make Season 3 amazing! This is just the beginning!”
But Chris has no bad feelings, instead focusing on the good times and reflected on his time there: “Do I want to leave the show? Absolutely not,” he says in another interview, to Extra. “This is home for me. But I understand that there’s time for a conclusion.”
It isn’t all bad news for the talented 21-year-old actor; he received his second Emmy nomination on Thursday (co-star Lea Michele was snubbed)!
“I feel so fulfilled as an actor,” he told Extra.
We are so happy for you, Chris! We just wish that your creator had given you a heads-up!
Someone else who was surprised? Cory Monteith! Cory found out when THR.com released Ryan’s interview. “He knows he was a sophomore when the show started.” Um, still Ryan. You should speak to your actors before the media!
