The 35-year-old told police he feared there was no way back when news of the missing eight-year-old spread and members of the local community began searching intensively for him.
Levi Aron has confessed he murdered Leiby Kletzky in a panic and dismembered his body, after luring him back to his New York apartment on July 11.“He panicked, and that is why he killed the boy,” NYPD commissioner Raymond Kelly tells the New York Times, claiming the situation escalated out of Aron’s control — and he murdered the child in a last ditch attempt to cover his tracks.
Parts of Leiby’s body were found in Aron’s apartment, along with bloody knives. The killer lead cops to the rest of his remains, in a nearby dumpster.
Heartbreakingly, Monday was the first day Leiby’s parents had allowed him to walk home from his summer day camp unsupervised.
This story gets more and more awful. Thank God the police tracked down the killer so quickly.
