Chris says that the idea has been ‘talked about,’ but production is over six months away — and it’s ‘way too soon’ to pin Emily down!
Rumors have been floating around that Emily Maynard‘s in talks with ABC to become the next Bachelorette now that she’s done with Bachelor Brad Womack. Host Chris Harrison says that the idea has been considered, but that it’s way to early to move forward!
“It’s obviously been bantered about,” Chris tells Access Hollywood. “We’re not idiots, we talked about it, of course, but it hadn’t even been broached to her. It is way too soon.”
The speculation isn’t true yet. “Rumors of Emily being The Bachelorette are greatly exaggerated,” continues Chris. “It is way too early, way too presumptuous of anybody to say she’s The Bachelorette.”
Emily’s still getting over Brad. “They just broke up and they’ve barely even broken up,” explains Chris.
Plus, it’ll be a long time before ABC starts working on the next season of The Bachelorette. “As far as TV goes, we don’t go into production on The Bachelorette for six more months,” says Chris. “We would never pigeonhole ourselves … this early.”
But if the time does come that Emily gets her own show, Chris hopes to make some changes to the series for her. “If she is our Bachelorette — that decision hasn’t been made — I would love to really announce it early on and really cast for her,” he shares. “I think it would be a dynamic show and to see the guys that would really step forward, because you know, you’re stepping in as the dad.”
BFFs — would you like to see Emily return as The Bachelorette?
