Emma Watson will forever be immortalized as Hermione Granger — the genuine, smart-witted, gorgeous ‘mudblood’ of the Harry Potter films. But now, she’s saying goodbye to her role as a wizard and talks about the uncertain, yet hopeful road ahead of her!
“It’s been a weird adjustment, I have to try to figure out — my whole life revolved around these movies, I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t a part of these movies,” Emma revealed during an appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly to promote the final Harry Potter film — Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2. “It was incredibly emotional. We filmed the whole movie in the same studio, with the same crew that’s known me since I was 10.” Although the film adaptations to one of the most successful book series is coming to an end, Emma looks forward to what lies ahead. “Its exciting…it feels like I get a fresh start.”
The 21-year-old Brown University student never imagined living life as a wizard. “It wasn’t something that I pursued, it just kind of found me. I just got really crazy lucky.” But now, she can’t imagine life any other way. “I’m going to miss this character so much. She always wants to do the right thing.”
Despite the fall release of her upcoming film My Week with Marilyn, don’t expect to see much of Emma on screen in the near future. After taking time off from school to finish up work on the pair of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows films, Emma plans to return to Brown University to get her degree in English and history. “I have 2 years left and I’m going to do one year back home and then do one more back here.” Like Hermione, Emma’s intelligence leaves no doubt that life truly imitates art!
