Less than 24 hours after being released, Demi Lovato’s comeback single, “Skyscraper,” is already number one on iTunes! Which song do YOU like better?
Demi Lovato is ready to take the world by storm again — and from the looks of things, you’re ready to have her! The 18-year-old former Disney starlet released her single, “Skyscraper,” late July 11 and now, only 12 hours later, it’s number one on the iTunes charts. Wowza!
“WOW!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! WE DID IT!!!!!!!! #1 on iTUNES!!!!!!!! MY #LOVATICS ARE INCREDIBLE!!!!!! #SKYSCAPER,” Demi tweeted after watching her song climb the charts.
“Skyscraper” is a quality song — particularly because it speaks so closely to Demi’s situation throughout the last year. After having a physical and emotional breakdown in the fall, Demi spent time in a treatment facility in Chicago, ended her TV show and has been on a new, healthier path ever since. “Skyscraper” is an anthem describing her plight, but building her back up…as tall as a skyscraper.
Part of Demi’s popularity is in thanks to her A-list friends, who have been tweeting their support and encouraging fans to buy her single.
Kim Kardashian wrote, “I am so excited to download @ddlavato new song #SKYSCRAPER! It’s out tonight! EVERYONE MUST DOWNLOAD IT!!! So proud of u Dem!”
Other supporters have included Ryan Seacrest, Eva Longoria, Brittany Snow and Jordin Sparks, to name a few.
It’s nearly impossible to compare Demi’s new single to her former BFF Selena Gomez hit song, “Who Says,” but it will be interesting to see which one outperforms the other. “Skyscraper” is deeper, darker and slower, while “Who Says” has a faster, ‘poppier’ beat. The one thing these songs have in common is their positive message, which is refreshing to hear on today’s radio.
Ultimately, there’s room in both the music world and Hollywood for Demi and Selena to flourish in their own ways…but when it comes to YOUR iPod, which starlet’s song is getting the most play? Sound off below!
