Demi Lovato admits to Ryan Seacrest that she and ex-boyfriend Joe have grown apart because ‘a lot has happened’ between them.
Disney starlet Demi Lovato is picking up the pieces of her broken past and starting new with a better body image and a hit inspirational single. Demi promoted her new single “Skyscraper” on On Air With Ryan Seacrest Show this morning, and told him about the difficult journey that has led her to where she is now. She even admitted that her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas knew about her emotional struggles and eating disorder.
Ryan asked Demi if Joe was aware of her inner struggles, and she answered uncomfortably. “He was my best friend for like years prior to that, so he knew. I mean when we first shot the first movie together …” said Demi, trailing off at the end of her answer.
Demi stopped herself from explaining their relationship further, but you can tell by her expression and silence that Joe noticed Demi was having issues, especially while filming Camp Rock. When Ryan asked if he was there for her when she was going through rehab, Demi vaguely answered yes, but admitted that the two aren’t as close as they used to be.
“Yeah, I’ve had a lot of support, and you know obviously I’m not super close with him anymore just because a lot has happened, but I was very thankful to have the support of many many friends.” revealed Demi.
While there seems to be a lot more to the Demi/Joe relationship, and difficult split, than she is willing to admit, Demi had no problem saying that she has temporarily sworn off boys. When Ryan asked her if she had a new guy in her life, she said that she’s taking time to focus on herself before she even thinks about starting a relationship.
“To be honest, right now there is no crush… I have a pact with my friends right now, literally no boys for X amount of days.” said Demi.
We’re glad that Demi is focused on her road to recovery and won’t be derailed by boy drama. Tell us what you think about Demi’s feelings towards Joe? Do you think he tried to help her when she was struggling or did their relationship just make things worse?

Joe would NEVER EVER hurt Demi on purpose- they’re bestfriends and bestfriends don’t like hurting one another. But the fact that they got into a relationship while Demi had issues- well, not so good. Cause when Joe broke it off so Demi could focus on getting better he’ll end up breaking her heart, she did say he was there to support her. Problem is it’s sorta hard being with a person that you really love but you know you can’t be together cause you’re not in the right state ;/
