'Bachelorette' Ali Fedotowsky: Huge Pressures Make It Hard To Stay Together After The Show Ends!

‘Bachelor’ Brad Womack & Emily Maynard, like many other couples who met on the series, split. Now Ali explains why it’s so easy to do!

It’s not easy for couples to stay together after The Bachelor or The Bachelorette ends. Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky, who has defied the odds by remaining with her fiance Roberto Martinez, explains in an interview with host Chris Harrison on Warner Bros Bachelor site why it’s hard to make relationships last and why that’s possibly part of the reason that Emily Maynard and Bachelor Brad Womack called it quits.

“I think there’s a huge pressure after the show ends, especially when there’s so much hype over it, to stay together,” Ali tells Chris. “We were so lucky that we wanted to stay together and that it’s working out and things are great, but we experienced pressure in other ways.”

People pay attention to every little detail of Bachelor and Bachelorette‘s relationships. “We can relate in the sense that we said at one point, ‘Oh, we’re going to be married in the spring of this year,'” remembers Ali. “Spring came and gone — and people were like, ‘Why aren’t you married? It’s spring!’ And we were like, ‘Oh my goodness.’ You feel this immense need to please other people.”

“I remember thinking before I even went in, ‘What if this doesn’t work for me? People are going to turn on me if that happens,'” fesses Ali. “And you know, Roberto and I have been lucky in love in this situation. We continue to get tons of support. But I’ve definitely thought in the past, if it didn’t work out with us, would people turn on us?”

Ali wishes people wouldn’t judge so much. “The ring doesn’t mean anything,” she explains. “I’m wearing the ring, but people could say, ‘Oh she’s just wearing the ring, but they’re whatever.’ It’s what we know that is what matters — and we know we’re good.”

Roberto chimes in that they’re relationship is in fact quite “good.” “We’ve started a life in San Diego together,” he says. “It’s good, it’s all good.”

But like every couple, they’ve had their arguments. “We’ve had our fights,” he admits. “We’ve had our boxing gloves on at times.”

“Literally, we kick box together,” Ali adds with a smile. “Literally sometimes we’ll take it out on each other.”

Ali and Roberto even celebrate their love and future union. “We went back to Tahiti to celebrate our year engagement anniversary,” gushes Ali. “We didn’t get to go to the exact spot we got engaged, but we did go back and he did a little reenactment for me.” Aww!

BFFs — do you think there’s a huge pressure on Bachelor/Bachelorette couples to stay together after their shows end?
