Prince William and Kate Middleton have arrived in Los Angeles and are ready to begin their whirlwind weekend in California!
6:00 p.m. After stopping by the business and technology summit at the Beverly Hilton, Prince William and Kate Middleton headed to a welcome reception in Hancock Park, a few miles from Beverly Hills. The menu reportedly included several rich and tasty foods, like chipolata sausages, bacon-wrapped prunes, stilton tartlets with apricot chutney and apparently, yorkshire puddings with roast beef and horseradish sauce. However, judging from Kate’s svelte figure, she didn’t scarf down too much of that!
Guests at the fete included Stephen Fry, Nigel Lythgoe and Bob Iger, who’s the head of Disney.
Sir Nigel Sheinwald, Britain’s ambassador to the US, welcomed the couple to California with a speech:
“They have had a fantastically successful trip to Canada and they will have a great welcome in California. They will meet a huge range of people from the governor to people working in the projects of Skid Row. They will get a good snapshot of life in this part of California”
5 p.m.: When Prince William and Kate arrived at the Beverly Hilton, the people in the lobby screamed in excitement. About 200 people were reportedly waiting to catch a glimpse.
4:40 p.m.: The couple’s private jet landed around 4:00 p.m. PT at Los Angeles International Airport, flying in from Canada. First off of the plane were security officers and members of the royals’ staff, followed by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge! Kate Middleton looked stylish as ever in a lavender short-sleeved dress by designer Roksanda Illinic as she and Prince William landed in the States for Kate’s first visit to the US!
Kate and William were greeted by LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Governor Jerry Brown, who presented them with bouquets of red, white, and blue flowers. Governor Brown said “Welcome to California”. After shaking hands with the others waiting at the plane, the couple got into the British Embassy’s Range Rover. They left LAX with their fleet of security and staff to head to the Beverly Hilton hotel. There, the couple will attend a business conference, the first of many events in their jam-packed weekend.
Stay tuned for more updates on Kate & Will’s California adventure!

That is not a private jet that William and Catherine are flying in. You have shown two planes…one is an armed forces jet that flew the Royals from Yellowknife to Slave Lake. The grey plane is an armed forces airbus that we used to pick the Royals up in England and delivered them to Canada. We used the plane to transport the Royals around Canada and then to their foreign destination – you. Canada is the only commonwealth country that picks the Royals up and delivers them to their next destination. The planes are used by our airforce and maintained and paid for by the taxpayers of Canada. We allow their use by the Royal family in Canada because while on Canadian soil they are the Canadian Royal Family. Their trip to Canada was not a foreign trip as again when in Canada they are the Canadian Royal Family.FYI

@Lillie – She beat me to my comments. As members of the Canadian Royal Family they are entitled to use Canadian government aircraft. If the UK dropped the monarchy tomorrow, Queen Elizabeth and her family would still be the Royal Family of Canada (and Australia, etc).
