Elizabeth, who was kidnapped 10 years ago and held captive for nine months by kidnapper Brian David Mitchell, will be appearing as a reporter for missing persons cases for ‘GMA’ and ‘Nightline!’

Her kidnapping case may be closed, but Elizabeth Smart, now 23, is emerging back in the spotlight as the news is announced that she will be a correspondent for two prominent ABC News shows!

ABC spokeswoman Julie Townsend told The Daily Beast, “This is definitely not about looking backward and telling her story, which has been well told and retold.” Basically, Elizabeth’s role will focus on “helping viewers understand missing-persons stories from the perspective of knowing what a family experiences when a loved one goes missing.”

Elizabeth will appear on Good Morning America, and perhaps Nightline, when “there are children or missing person cases in the news.”

And her new gig has nothing to do with the timing of the Casey Anthony trial. Julie says, “This has been in the works for months.” Pretty exciting for Elizabeth!

Elizabeth was abducted from her home in Utah when she was 14-years-old and held captive by Brian David Mitchell, who was sentenced to life in prison on May 25.
