Three producers tell HollyBaby.com they think we’re more likely to see a made-for-TV movie than a feature film, largely because Casey Anthony was found not guilty! Do YOU want to see this story made into a movie?

Casey Anthony might be the least sympathetic character in the world right now. The 25-year-old mother is widely believed to have murdered her toddler daughter, Caylee, but a jury found her not guilty July 5 — making the ending of a movie about her life largely unsatisfactory. Who wants to watch a movie where the main character gets away with allegedly murdering an adorable child? HollyBaby.com consulted with three producers who explained how they foresee a Casey Anthony movie being made — and why we shouldn’t expect it on a big screen anytime soon!

Nathan Bunker, producer of upcoming feature film The New Republic, feels strongly Casey’s story is less likely to be made into a film for theaters because of its current ending.

“Feature film, no way,” he says. “Television or Lifetime movie has a better chance but I would say it would be iffy at that. Since the majority of the people who followed and watched the case on TV thinks she’s guilty, there’s really no story to show. No one wants the bad guy to get away unless we’re rooting for him/her. In this case not many are rooting for her.”

He adds, “So, for right now, I think no — but if they do end up finding a killer and her hands are completely wiped clean and the world ends up back on her side, then you’ll have your movie.”

George Caceres, actor and producer of the TV show Rockstar Academy and executive producer of the upcoming film Lip Service, believes Casey’s story will make an amazing film — but only if it focuses on her personality and madness and doesn’t emphasize her getting off from murder charges.

“I think it would make a really good film as long as she was portrayed as truly as she is. She’s not a sympathetic character,” George — who’s a father himself and says Casey’s ‘not guilty’ verdict makes his blood boil — explains. “The complexities of her character, she’s crazy. People really relate to crazy characters, like Cybil — she was very interesting. She could be portrayed as something like that.”

He adds, “I think it would be made for TV. I think a lot of people would tune in and watch it. People like to see drama, especially on TV. It’s a money maker. The whole story is a money maker. It should definitely be made into a film.”

Blake Freeman, actor and director for projects like Gawd Bless America and Noobz, agrees with George and thinks Casey’s verdict actually opens up possibilities for a film that didn’t exist before.

“If she was sent to her death the story would be over, but now we get to follow her antics for the rest of her life and it could turn into even more movies on her life,” he says, adding, “It has been fascinating to watch so far, so a movie about it will be equally as fascinating! The possibilities are endless.”
