In the new season of ‘Teen Mom,’ Maci’s ex Ryan thinks child support is a “joke” — which could land him in prison! Poor Maci!
Being a teen mom is hard, especially when there’s a deadbeat dad involved! Teen Mom star Maci Bookout discovers how difficult it is raising her son Bentley as a single mom when her ex, Ryan Edwards, fails to pay child support.
In a preview for the highly anticipated upcoming season of Teen Mom, Maci calls a child support agency to ask about the consequences for Ryan’s missed payments. Maci is shocked to find out unemployment isn’t an excuse for missed child support and Ryan’s refusal to pay up could land him behind bars.
“If payments aren’t coming in, we can file a contempt with the court, which typically means community service and, in most cases, six months in jail or a large lump sum payment,” an agent tells Maci.
After the upsetting call, Maci dials a friend to vent her frustration. The young mom doesn’t want to see her ex in prison, but is desperate for the money. Caught between a rock in a hard place, Maci just wishes she had a new baby’s daddy!
“I just don’t understand how he thinks child support is a joke. What about when Bentley’s, like, eight, and he [asks] if dad’s ever been to jail. I’ll have to [say] ‘yes, because he didn’t pay up,'” says an exasperated Maci.
Fortunately for Maci she has a supportive family and boyfriend to help her get through these rough patches! Watch the season premiere of Teen Mom Tuesday night on MTV to see what Maci does! Do YOU think she should take Ryan to cout for child support?
