Plus, ‘Hefty Hanna’ finally got a shout out! God, I miss that fat suit…
I didn’t keep count, but I’m pretty sure I gasped at least 25 times during the June 5 episode of Pretty Little Liars. With Wren’s (Julian Morris) help, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and the girls followed Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) and tracked down Ian (Ryan Merriman) … only to find his dead body in a tool shed! Next to a gun! And a suicide note! Seriously, can you blame me for my non-stop gasping?
Of course, a few questions still remain: Why did Ian kill himself? Where were Ian and Melissa planning on running off to? And what’s crazy Melissa going to do to Spencer when she finds out she pawned her wedding ring?
But enough with the bloodshed. Let’s turn our attention to this week’s happier moments:
We’ll start with Aria (Lucy Hale) and Jason (Drew Van Acker.) Aria was supposed to meet little brother Mike (Cody Christian) at the park, but when he turned out to be a no-show, she instead spent some quality time with Jason. Oh, and did I mention Jason was shirtless and literally glistening in the sunlight like a Twilight vampire? And unlike the last time we saw Alison’s brother, he was charming and personable — and he even told Aria he missed her pink hair! Ezra Fitz, who?
In an attempt to make Lucas (Brendan Robinson) less of an awkward hermaphrodite, Hanna (Ashley Benson) agreed to join him on his first date with Danielle (Amanda Leighton.) But because three people do not a double-date make, she reluctantly brought Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) along as her fellow “wing-person.” And much to the delight of “Haleb” fans everywhere, the two ended their date with their arms around each other! Sure, it wasn’t quite as hot as Hanna and Caleb’s little camping rendezvous in the woods, but I’ll take what I can get. Baby steps, people.
Meanwhile, Emily (Shay Mitchell) kept up her little Danby charade this week with help from girlfriend Samara (Claire Holt), who somehow turned a conversation about glue guns and scrapbooks into a convincing argument that put Emily’s mom at ease. I thought I’d have a hard time accepting Samara — I’m still a big fan of Maya (Bianca Lawson) — but Emily’s new lady love is really starting to grow on me. I just wonder how long it’ll take before “A” starts messing with her, too!
OK, I’m done talking — now it’s your turn. Why do you think Ian killed himself? Should Aria and Jason hook up? And will Hanna be blamed for the therapist’s office being trashed? (Side note: I want “Nosey Bitches Die” printed on a t-shirt. I’d wear it to work.)
