The 25-year-old broke down in tears as the shocking verdict was read out in court.
Casey Anthony was found not guilty of first degree murder, manslaughter and aggravated child abuse. Of the seven charges she faced, Casey was only found guilty of four counts of providing false information to a law enforcement official. Are you shocked? Is this the right verdict?
It took less than two days of deliberations for the jury to reach their verdict — which will be a shock to those who were convinced of Casey’s guilt from day one.
It still leaves huge questions marks over Caylee’s tragic death. The two-year-old’s body was found in woodland near the Anthony family home in Orlando, Florida, in December 2008 — six months after she first disappeared.
Casey initially claimed her daughter had been kidnapped by a nanny, but she later changed her story, alleging Caylee had drowned accidentally in the Anthony family swimming pool — claiming her body was moved by a meter reader who was seeking a reward.
Casey won’t walk free yet. She will be sentenced on Thursday July 6th for lying to the police and faces up to a year in prison for each of the four counts.
