Casey Anthony's Parents React To Their Daughter's Verdict: The Defense Was 'Baseless,' But The Decision Was 'Fair'

After learning their daughter Casey Anthony was found not guilty for the murder of their granddaughter Caylee, Cindy and George Anthony released a statement via their lawyer about their thoughts on finally getting closure.

Cindy and George Anthony were the first people to leave the courtroom after their daughter, Casey Anthony, was found not guilty for the murder of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, July 5. Although it seemed they were upset with the verdict, the Anthony’s released a statement applauding the jury’s “fair decision.”

“While the family may never know what happened to Caylee Marie Anthony, they now have closure for this chapter in their life,” Cindy and George’s attorney, Mark Lippman said in the release.

The emotionally-tapped parents did their best to support and protect their 25-year-old daughter throughout the last three years. However, most recently Casey’s defense tried to place the blame on them, saying Caylee died in their pool and George allegedly sexually abused Casey as a child, something both George and Cindy are still denying.

“They will now begin the long process of rebuilding their lives. Despite the baseless defense chosen by Casey Anthony, the family believes that the Jury made a fair decision based on the evidence presented, the testimony presented, the scientific information presented and the rules that were given to them by the Honorable Judge Perry to guide them,” the statement continued, adding, “The family hopes that they will be given the time by the media to reflect on this verdict and decide the best way to move forward privately.”

The statement ended with a call to action for those who wish to remember the late Caylee.

“The family also wanted the public to know that if anyone wanted to honor Caylee by leaving stuffed animals or other toys at any area near their home, that they would prefer those items be donated in Caylee’s name to families in need, religious centers, or any other entity where the toys would be appreciated,” the statement said.

How would you feel if you were George and Cindy? Do you think they are relieved their daughter was found not guilty? Sound off below.

I think so many people have watched this case unfold over the last three years on TV and in the media it was a no brainer for them we all felt like we could put ourselves in the jury’s shoes I think so when that verdict was the opposite of what most people expected it was too much to accept all at once and will require more study

– my opinion the prosecution might have made more of a case if they had the actual day by day time line of her life and pictures of her on certain days like instead of just generally showing some pictures and making comments it must have been a bit of a blur for them to try to understand the diabolical nature of her lies just over the course of a few days she looks so much more innocent than she is

– Question: The body guard who worked for Padilla was on Dr Drew HLN and said Casey obviously had something wrong with her and the family had to revolve around her and tippy toe so what about whether they ever had any treatment or tried to get professional help? Although any personality disorder being treated must be initiated by the person themselves in order to have any effect – in Casey and Caylee’s case did anyone try to help through professional means like did her parents get any help for her???

There’s no way in the World anyone could think she was innocent of murdering Caylee. 1. She didn’t report the child missing. 2. She lied over & over again as to where the child was. 3. She fabricated a fake kidnapping (which is highly illegal, if i remember correctly) 4. She partied like a rock star the whole time without one moments regard as to where her child was. 5. She never proclaimed her innocence on the stand or otherwise. 6. There WAS evidence that there was a dead body in the trunk of her car at one time or another, a hair that was proven to have decomposition! 7. There was remnants of cheese in the laundry bag that baby was found in, and there was a Velveeta box and wrapper found in the trunk of the car! And chloroform found in the trunk & in a syringe at the crime scene 8. The forensic scientists showed sufficeint evidence that her body had been in those woods for awhile. 9. She LIED repeatedly about molestation, whereabouts, working, nannies, friends, etc. 10. The duct tape found on the gas can, matched the duct tape on the baby’s skull, AND it was a rare form of duct tape 10. She tried to borrow a shovel from her neighbor & looked up “shovel” & ways to break necks on the computer! 11. The defense changed their theory of defense more than once, and even admitted she was a slut/bad mother! 12. Why would anyone “make an accident look like homicide?” (something else that is extremely illegal!) SHE IS GUILTY! There’s one point for every juror that didn’t make the right decision…and I hope it haunts them, the defense team, and Casey for the rest of their lives!

A beautiful child is dead people. If only this family could have mended their fences or whatever to make this right for this beautiful child. They know what happened…come forward and tell the truth.

HLN did a good job televising the trial, but I got tired of Nancy Grace and Jane Valez Mitchell with their sactimonius, prejudiced views. After the verdict, Jane did her best to incite a riot outside the restaurant where the defense attorneys were taking well-deserved break. Nancy and Jane ignored the fact that all 12 jurors were in agreement as to reasoanble doubt. I think Casey did it, just as I think OJ did it. I’m not ready to blame/change the system, just the ineptitude of the prosecution. You can win a case on circumstantial evidence–they didn’t. p.s. I am now in love with Sunny Hostin….but she’s married.

They should be allowed to heal privately. After losing their granddaughter at the hand of their irresponsible daughter these two have not had a break thanks to Casey’s desire to blame everyone but herself. I hope they move on & heal because if anybody loved Caylee it was them && may Casey come face to face with Caylee on Judgement Day & realize the harm she’s caused.

From watching too much HLN, you may end up with the misconception that the defense must prove their case. The defense has no burden to prove anything. The defense’s case is meaningless. The prosecution must prove guilty beyond reasonable doubt. The prosecution burdens all of the responsibility. The defense burdens absolutely nothing. The defense doesn’t even have to present a case at all. Bottom line, there was no concrete physical evidence to prove what the prosecution was claiming. No cause of death, no real motive, no murder weapon, no finger prints, no DNA. They prosecution had a whole bunch of nothing and justifiably lost. It’s not what you know. It’s what you can prove. They can’t prove anything. Is she guilty? Probably. She must’ve been born under a lucky star or something. 3 years of digging and no real evidence. Wow.

Whoever wrote this must obviously have been ON the defense team! And as stupid as the defense team was/is. A motive WAS proven-Casey hated Cindy, wanted to keep the baby from her, AND Casey wanted a life free of the burden of Caylee. The manner of death/murder weapon was the tape. Caylee was smothered, AND the chloroform-Dah!, and the reason there were no fingerprints is because that evil devil Casey threw Caylee into a swamp area that she knew would be wet and destroy the prints. Cindy and George would be wise to never even talk to Casey again. That’s exactly what I would do, were she MY child! And I would be damned if I would try to send her a single cent of my money. Of course some of the best evidence was kept from the jury, like what Lee knew/knows, (he was given immunity), and the letters Casey wrote to her cellmate ADMITTING that she killed Caylee!!!
