We all know ‘The Voice’ winner Javier can sing, but when it comes down to it, his competitors say he’s all about his kids — and that’s why he deserved to win.
Congrats go out to 34-year -old Javier Colon, the dad of two from Stratford, CT who walked away with the title of The Voice, on last night’s finale of NBC‘s breakout hit. And don’t think there were any hard feelings from the other three finalists, Dia Frampton, Beverly McClellan or Vicci Martinez. All his competitors believed in him , as well as his coach Adam Levine, and were secretly hoping he would walk away the winner! Why? He’s truly a family man.
“Before the camera came on, I told everyone in the audience that we all love each other and it is true,” Vicci Martinez told HollyBaby.com after the finale. “But in terms of Javier winning, he deserves it. We all deserve it, but its really important right now for America to have a role model like him. He is a family man, he puts his family and their interests first and I think everyone out there — not just men — to have that kind of a heart that he has, [he’s] really sincere, and I love him for it.”
And runner-up Dia Frampton, who came within two percent of Javier’s votes, agrees with Vicci — Javier is truly a family man whose wife and kids ALWAYS come first.
“We went to a shopping center and you know I came back and was like ‘I got some clean underwear and a summer dress,’ and I went up to Javier and I was like ‘What did you get’ and he goes ‘Oh I just got this,’ and he pulls out this tiny little Cookie Monster t-shirt and he’s like, ‘Oh I got it for my kids back home because they love Cookie Monster!'” Dia explains to us.
“And that’s the type of person that he is. He is always Skype-ing with his kids. It is definitely difficult to do the music industry with a family and he has definitely balanced that well and I am so happy that he can do that now with his security belt.”
And don’t think his kids don’t know he’s a superstar: “My oldest, who’s 3½, said, ‘Daddy! Daddy! We saw you win on TV!'” Javier revealed to reporters proudly. “They were in a holding area and she said, ‘We saw you win on TV, Daddy!’ ‘Yeah, baby, Daddy won.’ ” AWW!
We’re so thrilled for Javier and his family, who walk away with a $100,000 prize and Universal Records deal for dad. We can’t wait to see what his future in music holds!
