Producer Rob Thomas says there has been some serious talk of a Party Down movie!

“Are we having fun yet?” The creators and crew of the Starz sitcom Party Down answered the age-old question in Austin, Texas this past weekend. At an event at the Alamo Draft House, Rob Thomas told the audience that while a third season won’t be happening, a motion picture is in the works.

“People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie,” Thomas said. “We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a Party Down movie. Ideally, if it works out we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. Hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all tweet about it when it does.”

On Saturday, June 25, cult television fans met for a kickoff party at The Highball to jam to the Neil Diamond tribute band, Diamond Smugglers. Looking dapper in bluejeans and gold-sequined jumpsuits, the Austin-based band performed live and had the crowd belting out Cracklin’ Rosie. It was a perfect way to start The Ultimate Party Down Marathon!

The next morning, June 26, both seasons one and two were played over the span of 10 hours at the Ritz. Starting at 10:00 am, seats were jam packed, with the cast and crew in attendance!

Later that day, comedy-loving comrades were able to reminisce about the day’s hard work of sitting and laughing along at the Inter-Continental Stephen F. Austin Hotel. Sounds like a fun weekend with some of the biggest stars in television comedy!
