Dia Frampton is currently number one on iTunes with Javier only a few spots behind, and it looks like it will be a very close race to the end for Team Adam and Team Blake! Who do YOU want to win ‘The Voice’?
Tonight’s episode of The Voice was a full-blown entertainment fest. The contestants took the stage with their coaches for some killer performances, interspersed with guest singers like Brad Paisley, Pitbull and Ne-Yo, plus all four coaches belting out “Under Pressure”. But most important were the individual performances from Javier Colon, Dia Frampton, Vicci Martinez and Beverly McClellan who sang original songs custom-made for each of their voices. And now, Dia and Javier’s original songs are both already ranked in the top five on the iTunes charts!
Dia Frampton sang “Inventing Shadows” and sounded pure and sweet as usual, although while sitting in the audience I have to admit, my eyes were drawn to the boys dancing in shadow boxes behind her. Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine pointed it out as a distraction in their comments. Blake Shelton came back with a quick retort of “You know what else is going to be distracting to them? When they look at their phones tonight and you’re on the top of iTunes above their records. That’s going to be so distracting to them, all that iTunes domination.”
Well, so far Blake is getting the last laugh. By 10PM in LA, only two hours after The Voice taping ended and voting began, Dia was already in the second spot on the iTunes chart. The show hadn’t even finished airing on the West Coast! [Update: she's now at #1]
But don’t count fan favorite Javier Colon out. The singer sounded incredible with his “Stitch by Stitch” original song, and it is (as of 10PM PST) only three spots behind Dia at #5 on iTunes. [Update: it's now #2] Plus he has Justin Bieber endorsing him, as if the talented singer and frontrunner for the competition needed more votes! Will the Bieber army make him unstoppable?
Javier gave yet another powerful performance with Adam, singing “Man in the Mirror” and finally wearing the suit he promised he’d wear! Their duet is quickly climbing the charts as well, although only the contestants’ original song purchases will count towards votes, not their coach duets.
Vicci sang “Afraid to Sleep” which was ranked at #29 at 10PM PST and Beverly’s “Love Sick” was at #54. Vicci closed the show for a second time in a row, with an insane performance of “Love is a Battlefield” alongside Cee Lo Green and dancing children in warrior gear. The audience bleachers were shaking from people jumping up and down in excitement!
Although Javier and Dia are generating quite a lot of buzz, it really is still anybody’s game at this point, since we haven’t seen America vote for these individuals directly against each as they have been competing against their teammates in the past. Are you watching the music charts to see the artists climb to the top? The numbers are shifting rapidly! Who do you hope wins The Voice in tomorrow’s results show?
