After one of the most successful seasons of ‘American Idol’ to date, fans of the show were looking forward to seeing all three fabulous judges return — yet one judge is still deciding whether or not to come back!
A FOX rep confirmed to E! News today that while judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler are indeed most definitely coming back to American Idol (hardly shocking as Steven signed a multi-year contract), Jennifer Lopez is not positive about her return.
The multi-talented mogul is not certain she can dedicate as much time to just one project such as American Idol, but sources speculate J. Lo may just be angling for a pay raise, a difficult feat considering she banked a $12 million contract for just one season.
Still, this move is a bit surprising given Jen’s popularity on the show, her emotional investment in the contestants — and her ensuing career boom. It may come as a surprise to fellow judges as well — Randy appeared on Lopez Tonight this spring, announcing all three judges would be back for the next season.
Spoke too soon, Randy.
The Maid In Manhattan actress told BBC’s Radio 1 earlier this month, “I haven’t been forced to make a decision and I’m glad about that because honestly I’m very kind of on the fence about it. I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening, and it’s going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year.”
