Plus, Spencer makes a shocking discovery about Melissa! NOW do we think Ian is still alive?
I always thought Spencer (Troian Bellisario) was the smart one of the group, her parade of terrible decisions on the June 28 episode of Pretty Little Liars has me questioning her intelligence. She’s creating so much trouble for herself, and it’s all for the sake of her relationship with Toby (Keegan Allen.) She gets one look at those abs, and suddenly we’re all reminded that she really is a 16-year-old girl at heart.
Let’s retrace Spencer’s bad ideas from this week’s episode, shall we? First, she accused Jason (Drew Van Acker) of hiding someone else in his house after he claimed no one else was living there. We all saw the sillouhette in Jason’s window, but Spencer needs to learn when it’s best to keep her mouth shut. Doesn’t she know how many shovels Jason owns?!
Bad idea No. 2 came along when Spencer found Melissa’s (Torrey DeVitto) wedding ring hidden behind the toaster. Rather than give it back to her in attempt to heal their train wreck of a relationship, Spencer took it to a pawn shop to get Toby the $2,000 he needed for a carpenter’s truck. I guess she’s ABS-olutely in love with him. (Sorry I keep bringing up Toby’s abs, but “Shirtless Toby” was trending on Twitter for God’s sake!)
Determined to see what her sister’s been up to since Ian’s (Ryan Merriman) disappearance, Spencer and the girls followed Melissa on one of her nightly outings. Turns out she’s been meeting up with her ex, Wren (Julian Morris), who’s been supplying her with some sort of medicine.
Toby may be the one doing yard work for a living, but it’s Aria (Lucy Hale) who really got her hands dirty this week! She enrolled in a pottery class at Hollis — partly to spy on Jackie and bump into Ezra (Ian Harding) — and was less than thrilled to see Jenna (Tammin Sursok) in attendance as well. She continued going to the class using a fake name and got to see a whole new side of Jenna… one that actually seems human! Of course, their little friendship didn’t last long. As soon as Jenna realized her new pottery buddy was Aria, their relationship went back to its original state: cold, awkward and bitchy.
And don’t forget about Rosewood’s alphabetical terrorist! “A” chose Emily (Shay Mitchell) as its victim this week, torturing her via the pony express. Emily had planned to send a fake letter to her house, informing her parents that she needed to stay in Rosewood to be guaranteed a full ride to Danby, but she decided to rip the letter up before they saw it. “A” had other plans, however, recreating the letter and delivering it to Emily’s mom itself!
Hanna (Ashley Benson) played some mind games of her own this week. Not only did she get Lucas (Brendan Robinson) a coffee date with his crush by embellishing a few minor details about him — OK, a few major details — but she also put a plan into motion to reunite her parents. Her dad is sticking around in Rosewood to make sure she’s doing OK, and Hanna is doing everything she can to keep him from going back to his fiancée.
Which is fine because, as well know, Hanna’s plans never blow up in her face. Ever…
