Seeing these photos of Selena Gomez visiting a young cancer patient in Boston, Mass. simultaneously breaks my heart and makes me smile — she’s so sweet!
Even though Selena Gomez has the world in her hands — an upcoming romantic comedy, a new album and a hot and loving boyfriend…to name a few — she still takes time out of her busy schedule to give back to those less fortunate!
Amidst her When The Sun Goes Down album media blitz and her Monte Carlo tour, the 18-year-old starlet made a stop to a Boston hospital June 24 to visit some ill young fans. You can tell just by looking at these eight photos from one of her stops with a cancer-stricken youngster just how much her stop meant to the patient AND the family.
This is just one of the many examples of why Selena is an excellent role model. Despite being one of the most buzzed about celebs in Hollywood right now, she’s stayed true to herself and continues to give back to her fans.
Selena, keep up the great work! You continue to be an inspiration to your fans and we love you for it!

Documented or not, what Selena did for Hailey was a beautiful deed. It meant so very much for this little girl to meet her idol, after everything that she has gone through and has still yet to endure, this encounter was the true oppertunity of a lifetime. And whether or not Selena did this for publicity, it honestly, really doesn’t matter. To see the smile on Hailey’s face meant more than words could ever express and the fact that amongst the turmoil and tribulations that she is experiencing, for a fleeting moment she was able to forget all of it and bask in the glory of meeting Selena. No matter what Selena’s motives may have been (though I have the utmost confidence that the last thing Selena was concerned about was how much publicity she was going to score…) one [very sick] little girl’s dream came true and for that I tip my hat to Selena and send a great big ‘thank you!’
