In her new song from her upcoming album, Selena Gomez lets it rip against her ex-boyfriend and proudly sings about her new love — and she admits it’s about her real life!
Selena Gomez isn’t one to open up about her relationships in interviews, but now she’s taking a cue from her bestie, Taylor Swift, and singing about her boy troubles in her new song, “Bang Bang Bang.” From the first time we heard these lyrics, we had a feeling it was about her ex, Nick Jonas, and new love, Justin Bieber — but now the 18-year-old starlet is admitting it actually is about her real drama!
“I rewrote some of the lyrics to tweak it so it was perfectly about my life,” Selena said in a YouTube video about “Bang Bang Bang.” “It’s one of those songs that’s a dis and a compliment. It’s basically saying in a past relationship, that you may not have been treated properly and you kind of don’t really like that person, but there’s a new person in your life who makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world that matters. So it’s a sweet song…and a dis. But it’s really fun.”
Selena famously dated Nick, 18, on and off for nearly two years. Although they never confirmed it, it’s rumored Nick was the one to break it off — and she was always being compared to his ex-girlfriend, Miley Cyrus. Now, Selena is happily in love with her long-time friend, Justin, 17, who treats her like a princess — and proudly shows her off to the world and supports her 100%.
Here are some of the lyrics from “Bang Bang Bang:”
My new boy used to be a model, he looks way better than you, he looks way better than you
His love is deeper you know. He’s a real keeper you know.
My new boy knows the way I want it.
He’s got more swagger than you, he’s got more swagger than you do.
He’s not hiding me
He’s showing me off you know?
Selena’s full album, “When the Sun Goes Down,” drops June 28.
