Lindsay hasn’t worked in years now, and currently cannot even leave her house, why is she on the cover of a magazine? And what kind of message is this sending out?
Lindsay Lohan continues to prove that fame can outweigh talent with the news that the former actress will be on the September cover of Vanity Fair according to Page Six. What?!
Lindsay was a Vanity Fair cover girl less than a year ago, when she appeared on the October 2010 cover to discuss her legal troubles and upcoming time in prison. Since then, she has done nothing other than appear in court and experience more legal problems, leading to her current house arrest. In what way does this make for an interesting cover story?
The other Vanity Fair cover article subjects this year include Robert Pattinson, Justin Bieber, Johnny Depp, Rob Lowe, and Prince William and Kate Middleton. With the possible exception of Katy Perry, who is however one of the best selling female pop artists of the past year, these are all incredibly newsworthy people. What does Lindsay have to offer?
Lindsay’s last film, save a cameo in the 2010 Machete, was the straight to video Labor Pains in 2009. Her music career has ceased to exist for years and her only public appearances of recent have been at court. In fact, her announced role in Gotti ended up being changed from the female lead to a minor character! What is this interview going to be about? Things to amuse yourself while alone at home?
The worst part is that interviews like this further speak to the fact that being famous, and not talented, is what gets one noticed in Hollywood. Who needs roles in critically adored films when you can get into a high speed chase while in possession of cocaine in the middle of the night? That, it seems, is more interesting than being a boring old hard worker.
Maybe Vanity Fair should dial up Mia Wasikowska or Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone or any number of the amazing young actors in Hollywood today who are working nonstop in critically praised films. That’s the article I would prefer to read!

I think Lindsey’s cool. I saw her in Freaky Friday and really haven’t seen anything else she’s done, but as far as i’m concerned she’s very talented and had spunk and had withstood brutal attacks from the media just because that’s one of the bennies of being famous.
She’s just human like you and me and if she’s on the cover of Vanity Fair it’s because she’s gonna sell lots of copies of that issue and you all know it.
Whether people love her or hate her, they can’t get enough of her, can they?
She can pick herself up and brush herself off and move forward, what’s wrong with that? She just turned 25, her life has just begun.
