The accused killer’s defense team launched an audacious bid for a MISTRIAL over the weekend, claiming Casey wasn’t ‘competent’ to continue. She was examined by three psychologists who gave her the all clear.

UPDATE: June 27, 9:00 p.m. EST — After being turned down once, Casey Anthony‘s defense team is now asking a second time for a mistrial, reports RadarOnline. Do YOU think she’s competent?

Rumors began flying when proceedings ground to a halt on Saturday, June 25, when a full day of testimony was meant to take place.

Judge Perry cleared up all the speculation in court on Monday morning, revealing Casey’s defense team had filed a motion to determine if she was still fit for trial.

Their move suggested the defense fears Casey is struggling to grasp the enormity of her situation, as she stands trial for the first degree murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee — and faces a possible death sentence.

The judge immediately ordered Casey be examined by experts who quickly established she is competent to proceed.

Perry told the court on Monday, day 29 of the trial,  “Based upon the reports that the court has reviewed, the court will find that the defendant is competent to proceed.”
