The pop-stars continue to battle for teen dominance, but this time Selena takes the upper-hand!
Selena Gomez, 18, has been enjoying fame as an international mega-popstar selling millions of records, filling arenas every night of the week, and now, breaking records! On June 19th, Selena hosted the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards which gained nearly three million viewers from 2010 — beating last year’s host, Miley Cyrus!
The awards show, which is presented by the Canadian music video channel MuchMusic, was the most-watched non-news program on all of Canadian television on Sunday night. Moreover, it beat last year’s record-breaking viewership by 10.4% and gained an astounding 67% increase in the key 18-34 year-old demographic. These ratings cannot be beat!
Not only can Selena applaud her success as host of the awards show, but certainly she’s celebrating with boyfriend Justin Bieber who took home two awards for his song, Somebody to Love. With all their accomplishments, there’s no doubt Selena is that ‘somebody’!
