Daniel Radcliffe On 'Pottermore': I Hope It Doesn't Involve More 'Harry Potter' Books!

Daniel Radcliffe reveals it would be ‘self-defeating’ to reprise his role as Harry, and J.K. Rowling’s rep reveals ‘Pottermore’ is not a new book!

If Daniel Radcliffe has any say in the matter, Harry Potter has hung up his wizard’s wand for good! The actor was asked about J.K. Rowling‘s mysterious ‘Pottermore’ announcement. “I know nothing about that whatsoever,” Daniel tells the LA Times. “I’m sure that Jo will be writing a lot more in the coming years. I’m sure she has a lot more in her than we’ve read and a lot more stories to tell. As long as they don’t involve Harry, I’m quite happy to buy them.”

Daniel’s in luck. J.K. Rowling’s rep has already dismissed rumors ‘Pottermore’ involves a new series. “[The project] is not a new book,” her spokeswoman said.

Potter expert Annika Heinle told us she thinks ‘Pottermore’ will be an extensive online interactive community for fans. As EW reported, Warner Bros. trademarked the name and registered it as a “global computer information network” two years ago, so it sounds like Annika’s theory could be correct!

Daniel elaborated on whether or not he’d be up for another Harry Potter movie, should Rowling end up writing one in the future. “I’d be very skeptical about that. First of all, I don’t think that she will [write more Potter books], and second of all, oh, I don’t know, the idea of going back to something after 10 or 20 years? At that point, I will have worked 20 years to establish a career outside of it, and at that point to go back to it would feel a little self-defeating. I could feel completely different at that time, but at this moment, it feels like it would be strange and not the way it would or should go.”

Are you guys disappointed that Daniel wouldn’t want to do more movies, or do you understand where he’s coming from? And are you getting excited for ‘Pottermore’ to debut?

I think that if Rowling decides to write more books it would be fairly easy and the last movie left the opertunity for more sequels wide open I believe. You can use different actors like their children for the main characters and most of the old charcters can pop in and out. Sure Voldemort is dead but there is always evil. One thought that I had pop into my head towards the end of the movie is that I seen the Malfoys sneak off so maybe somehow they could be the new “evil”. Maybe they try to find the elder wand that Harry Cracked in half and threw in the canyon. Possibly Voldemort told Lucius about something before he died? It doesn’t even have to be called Harry Potter for those of us that are happy with the way the series ended. She could start a new series based off of harry potter, but give it a different name possibly named after his son? There’s a lot more possibilities, but those are just a couple. I’m sure Rowling could come up with something great if she wanted to.

I dont want more harry potter books, yes they are the best thing ever but if more potter got published that would just be milking it. The story is over, finished. I cant think of anything more that needs added, unless you want to read about harry and ginnys quiet post-voldemort life.
If another came out i would lose respect for the series and see it as corporate suits draining a successful concept dry and it would lose all the magic

and on and on…a 50 year old Harry? I think not!
Dan has moved on. Whay can’t we accept that? Not to mention that if he went back to Potter, he might as well say he couldn’t make it on the stage, and H2$ is the highest grossing play on Broadway.
Let the Boy wizard become the man he is meant to be.
