The royal couple could be accused of pay-for-access by allowing the rich and famous to mingle with them at charity events!
Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s upcoming trip to Los Angeles is sure to be a star-studded affair, but new worries are surfacing that the couple might become roped into a financial scandal — simply by attending parties!
William, 28, and Kate, 29, are set to attend a charity match at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club on July 9, benefiting the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, the Daily Mail reports. But insiders are concerned the recently-created charity is just an excuse to grant access to the couple for the very rich!
Guests expected to attend include David Beckham, Oprah Winfrey and Sylvester Stallone, and tickets cost more than $4,000 just to eat at the same lunch as the couple. The whole event is estimated to bring in nearly $5 million dollars to the charity.
Furthermore, corporate sponsorship of the event by brands such as Audi and Royal Salute whiskey are under scrutiny for paying to have their names associated with William and Kate.
We’re so excited for the royal visit — we hope it’s not too tainted by scandal!

Scandal Schmandal. Beckhams went to the wedding and are friends of the couple so they aren’t paying just to “hobknob” with the royals. A $4,000 lunch is nothing for a charity event, especially for people like Oprah. A state dinner for the governor of Illinois costs more than that per head any time of the year, so I don’t see how that’s a big deal. That’s how charities work. If you don’t sweeten the pot people don’t just open their wallets and give. They want to feel important and that’s why they pay top dollar. It works the same way for museum charities, hospitals charities…what ever you have. That’s the name of the game people.
